Nairobi is not a stopover

Nairobi is a destination with a pulse, a palate, and a story most visitors never hear. We've designed half-day and full-day experiences that take you past the tourist checklist — Sheldrick, Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen — and into the city we call home. Markets that hum with stories. Rooftops that reframe the skyline. Food that deserves your full attention. Wildlife fifteen minutes from your hotel.

Common questions about Nairobi

Is Nairobi worth visiting beyond a stopover?

Genuinely yes — and we think the standard "Nairobi as a stopover" framing badly underserves the city. Nairobi has the only national park inside a capital city in the world. Its food scene rivals any major African city. Its creative and cultural districts are among East Africa's most exciting. With even one full day designed properly, Nairobi shifts from a transit point to a highlight.

Yes, with sensible precautions. Like any major city, certain areas should be avoided after dark and standard urban awareness applies. The neighbourhoods our experiences operate in — Karen, Westlands, and the city centre during the day — are well-trafficked and well-monitored. We use registered drivers, established venues, and accompanied transport throughout. Many of our guests describe Nairobi as feeling safer than they expected.

Two days is ideal. One day for The Full Nairobi or a combination of two half-day experiences. A second day for relaxed exploration on your own — Kibera, the National Museum, more food, or simply settling into the city's rhythm. Travellers with only an afternoon or one day will get a great experience, but two unlocks the city.

A layover of six hours or more is enough for a half-day Wenasi experience. The Nairobi Table works particularly well — markets, food, rooftop views — all close to JKIA airport. We'll arrange airport pickup, the experience, and timely return. It's the difference between sitting in a lounge and arriving home with a story.

Absolutely. Our Nairobi experiences are designed as standalone products, not safari add-ons. They're popular with business travellers extending a trip, expats hosting visitors, and self-booked travellers already in town. No multi-day commitment required.
